The band worked on their tans at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Sunday. Ice creams and slushies were in abundance! With players deputising on principal cornet and solo euphonium (thank you both!), Vicky Finlay was our only soloist of the day. Her flugel solo, Ave Maria, proved popular with the large and appreciative audience. Old favourites, including an Abba medley and the Floral Dance, were also given an airing in a varied programme of contrasting styles.
Next up for us is a trip to Cheltenham to represent the North West at the National Brass Band Championship finals. We’re working hard on the piece individually, collectively and in sectional rehearsals.
