We first met at the Stretford Cenotaph for the annual service of remembrance, with attendees including the Mayor of Trafford and the MP for Stretford and Urmston. A substantial number of the public braved the cold and wet to mark the centenary of the original Armistice Day.
We then headed back to Flixton for a very welcome hotpot at the John Alker Hall before giving a free concert to mark the occasion. The ex-servicemen’s club was decked in flags and the Hall was full. The programme included an arrangement of ‘For the Fallen’, during which our president, Councillor Jonathan Coupe, provided a reading.
