The band was delighted to attend the parish church of St George in Tyldesley last night for our first concert at this venue. The varied programme began with the Beatles and ended with West Side Story, taking in Crown Imperial, The Vicar of Dibley and Henry V among many others along the way. Our soloists on the night excelled with renditions of Whirlwind, Ae Fond Kiss and Dick Tracy.
A late addition to the programme was made in honour and memory of Richard Evans, who sadly passed away last week. Richard was a colourful colossus of the brass banding world. An exceptional musician and conductor, Richard was particularly renowned for his interpretation of marches. We performed a favourite of his, The New Colonial March.
