Our efforts over the weekend were appreciated both socially and musically.
On Saturday we were hosted by the magnificent and welcoming Société St. Martin Fanfare de Stein for a joint concert to a packed hall. We overcame our ‘band room envy’ and took the chance for a final run-through of our programme for the following day.
The evening was a huge success and we look forward to welcoming many of our hosts back for the Whit Friday marches next year.
On Sunday we performed to our best on the big stage. The choreography for our opening number worked well, the set test and own choice pieces were well-received by all three adjudicators, and Katie Tyson-Phillips played stunningly for the solo item.
After the performance we enjoyed the festival atmosphere in the park beside our venue, listening to various groups including a very impressive youth band from Lithuania.
Many thanks to our two deps for the weekend. We hope Emily Collins from the Oldham Band (Lees) and Jonathan Smith from the WFEL Fairey Band both enjoyed themselves or are too polite to say otherwise!
Many thanks also to the Band Management Team for their unstinting ability to herd cats both in the run-up and throughout the weekend. Where next?
