Michael was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where he pursued music as a percussionist both in school and the KC Youth Symphony. While primarily focused on classical music, Michael also worked on drumkit and guitar in jazz band.
Michael got his bachelor’s in music performance in percussion from the Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University under professors Joseph Gramley, John Tafoya, Kevin Bobo, Joseph Galvin, and Craig Hetrick (interim). During this time Michael performed in the Wind Ensemble, Orchestras, Opera pits and Percussion Ensemble. In addition, he studied Latin American Music, performing in the Steelpan Band, Latin American Ensemble, Brazilian Ensemble, and took lessons in congas and salsa music.
In 2023 he attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival under Luke Rinderknecht, primarily performing in mixed chamber and percussion ensembles.
Michael joined us while attending the Royal Northern College of Music to pursue a Master of Music Performance under percussion head of department, Simone Rebello.
