March 2022 – Present
Pete started playing the trombone at the age of 8 and although he enjoyed playing in various school/college ensembles throughout his childhood, he didn’t play in a full brass band until the age of 18 (probably something to do with being a southerner!) at Lancaster University.
During his 4 years at University Pete played trombone in the various ensembles the music society had to offer, dabbling on 2nd baritone (with questionable success…) in the brass band as required. He also served as treasurer on the organising committee for the 2012 and 2013 UniBrass contests. In between commitments with the music society he found time to complete his studies and graduated with an MSc in Statistics in 2014.
After graduation Pete moved to the south Manchester area for work and soon joined Hawk Green band on 1st Trombone. During his 7 years with Hawk Green their most notable success came at the Wychavon Entertainment Contest where the band were 3rd Section champions in 2018 and 2019. At the 2021 contest Pete was awarded the Dave Hodgetts memorial trophy for his “outstanding contribution to an overall performance” which included playing the trombone solo “Georgia On My Mind”.
In 2022 Pete decided it was time for a new challenge and took the opportunity to join Flixton.
